In 2026, I crossed America following the traces of Route 66, from Holbrook toward Los Angeles.

I followed a road that still leads west, through places that seem to belong to another time. I passed motels, gas stations, and towns that seemed to be waiting for someone who would never arrive.

I was looking for the America left behind by another time.
